Rowells added to practice roster

The Calgary Stampeders have added import running back Lyndon Rowells to the practice roster.

Rowells attended training camp with the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers last month after signing as an undrafted free agent.

He played two seasons at Humboldt State in Arcata, Calif., and was named to all-Great Northwest Athletic Conference first team both years. In 2010, he established a GNAC record by rushing for 1,309 yards in 11 games, an average of 118.9 yards per contest. The following season, he eclipsed his own mark by running for 1,417 yards in just 10 games. He scored a total of 29 rushing touchdowns over the two seasons.

In 2009, he played one game at Midwestern State before suffering an ankle injury and being medically redshirted. He attended junior college at the College of the Redwoods and was named the Bay Valley Conference MVP his sophomore season after rushing for 1,450 yards and 14 touchdowns.
