Halftime tribute for No. 82

On Sept. 14 at McMahon Stadium, Stampeders slotback Nik Lewis became the 16th player in Canadian Football League history to surpass the 10,000-yard mark in career receiving.

Friday, in Calgary’s first home game since that milestone accomplishment, the Stampeders and their fans will be paying tribute to No. 82. Lewis will be honoured in a halftime ceremony to celebrate his reaching the 10,000-yard plateau.

While that will be the focus of the tribute, it’s hardly the only significant milestone Lewis has reached in recent games. For one thing, he’s passed ex-Stamps Travis Moore and Jeremaine Copeland to move into 15th place in all-time receiving yards. And Lewis needs just five more yards to climb into 14th spot.

In addition, the catch that put him over 10,000 yards was also the 700th reception of his distinguished career. Lewis has since overtaken Rocky DiPietro to move into the top 10 in the career catches department.

In celebration of the all-star, the Stamps’ Store will be selling 8×11” poster which commemorate the 10,000-yard milestone. The posters are only $10 and are in store while supplies last. This collectors’ item will be available for purchase starting on game day.
