Another week, another award

For the third week in a row and for the fifth time in 10 games this season, Jon Cornish is the CFL’s Canadian player of the week.

Cornish’s latest honour comes as a result of his career-best 185-yard rushing performance in Friday night’s 20-18 win at Commonwealth Stadium in the Labour Day
rematch game against the Edmonton Eskimos. His big night included a 56-yard touchdown run.

With the performance, Cornish now has 827 rushing yards on the season and leads his closest competitor by 147 yards.

It’s the fourth time in the past five weeks Cornish has been named the league’s top Canadian. Dating back to Week 14 of last season, Cornish has claimed the top Canadian honour in eight of the 17 most recent games he has played.

In addition to the five weekly Canadian honours so far this season, Cornish was the CFL’s top Canadian in August and the top offensive player in Week 7.
