Jon Cornish keeps rolling along.
Friday night in Edmonton, the Calgary running back established a new career high by rushing for 185 yards.

It was less than a month ago — on Aug. 9 — that Cornish had set his previous career high with 170 yards.
In between those outstanding performances, he had 159 yards in a win at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium. That means that in the span of five weeks, Cornish has turned in three of the top 15 rushing performances in Stampeders history.
His totals over the past five contests? That would be 85 carries for 628 yards, an average of 7.4 yards per carry.
With Friday’s effort, Cornish went from six yards back of Saskatchewan’s Kory Sheets for the league lead in rushing to 179 yards in front. On the same night, he became the first CFL running back this season to surpass the 700- and 800-yard marks.
Hard to believe that this is the same running back that was held to minus-1 yard rushing on six carries July 28 against the BC Lions.
There are still three games to be played this weekend, but Cornish has put himself in line for more CFL weekly awards. Already this season, he has been named top Canadian player four times and top offensive player once.
Since becoming Calgary’s starting tailback in Week 13 of the 2011 campaign, Cornish has amassed 1,438 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns in 17 regular-season games.
That’s 255 yards more than his closest pursuer during that period, former Argo and current Eskimo Cory Boyd.
