Pettway: Great to get a win, and a sack

I think the last time I was in thr Labour Day Classic (with Edmonton in 2010) we got beat 55-5 or something like that. So it’s great to be on the winning side.

It was a great battle out there. The guys didn’t give up. It was just a great football game.

When we came out, we knew they had a great defence and we have a good defence and we already said it wasn’t going to be defence versus offence; it was going to be our defence against their defence. Who would be able to hold them, who would be able to go out there and not break. At the end of the game, it came down to us and we got the job done.

I felt for a minute there that I couldn’t get a sack, and then finally in this game, I got one and missed three. It gave me the confidence that I could get to the quarterback and I could get out there and play. I’m glad they trusted me to get out there and do the job.

Hopefully next week, I can keep it going.

On that last play of the game, I was starting to celebrate a little early when I saw it sailing wide. Then I was thinking, ‘Oh man, this guy needs a block,’ so I picked a guy and blocked him, Larry got out wide and brought it out and it turned out to be a good play.

When I saw it go wide, I felt like we were going to win this thing but I needed to remember that he’s got to get out of the end-zone.

With another game on Friday, you have to go out there and keep grinding. At the same time, you have to think that they’re going through the same thing, too. You have to take the day tomorrow, look after your body, learn your plays and just try to heal your body. It’s a short week.
