Introducing the Interns’ Blog

Welcome to the first entry of the Calgary Stampeders Interns’ Blog!

We are Courtney and Megan, and we are University of Calgary Marketing majors. We are spending the 2012 CFL Season working with the Calgary Stampeders. We plan to use this blog to give you an insider’s perspective into the day-to-day activities of a football club.

First, let us introduce ourselves!

Courtney will be entering her fourth year of marketing at the Haskayne School of Business this fall. She is completing two degrees, the second being a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. Courtney is a lifelong sports fan and athlete. She was an internationally competitive figure skater and twice placed second at the Canadian National Figure Skating Championships. Courtney enjoys all forms of dance and was classically trained in ballet at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School. These days, she does Bikram yoga and cycling to keep fit. In her spare time, Courtney enjoys reading, baking, writing and spending quality time with her cat Sophie.

Courtney helps to run the Stampeders Kids Club and writes Stamps articles for the Calgary Herald. She also provides assistance on the Game Face marketing campaign and coordinates the Calgary TV and radio Stamps ticket distribution. Her favourite moment working for the Stampeders has been taking her parents down to the sidelines for the game on July 28, her birthday.

Megan was born in Calgary and is fluent in French. Megan will be completing her fifth year at the Haskayne School of Business this fall. In addition to her degree in marketing, Megan is finishing up a minor in History and is a varsity athlete on the University of Calgary Dinos swim team. She played for three years on the Alberta provincial rugby team and was on the inaugural U of C Dinos rugby team in 2009. Megan likes to keep active in the off-season by doing hot yoga and spin classes. She loves her dog Brooke, country music and floating the Bow River.

Megan plays an integral role in coordinating the Southern Alberta portion of the 100th Grey Cup Tour presented by Rona. She is helping with the organization of Stamps House — the Stampeders’ official team party at the Grey Cup festival in Toronto. The highlight of her Stamps experience so far has been the team trip to Regina, where we beat the Riders in the pre-season.

Our blog will be updated regularly. If anyone needs to find us, we can be located in our office or, as most normal people would call it, our closet.
