You have to give BC credit. That’s a championship team. They play like a championship group.
The D-line, the linebackers, the cornerbacks all did an amazing job. Like any great team, the strength of their team starts up front. They did an amazing job on the defensive line, they did an amazing job on the offensive line.
Our team will still continue to grow and still continue to learn and we have to get better. Even after the Saskatchewan game, we kept saying we have to continue to get better, we have to get better. That was just another example of that tonight.
It was a situation where they came ready to play and we did not. That is what will happen to you. You will get beat severely if you do not come prepared to play a championship team and that’s what that team is.
Leading into this week, we had a great week of practice on the offensive side of the week, on the defensive side of the ball. We have to be ready to come out at 7 o’clock with 42 guys ready to play football. Practice determines a lot of what you will do in the game but when the lights come on, you have to be able to turn it on.
And that is me included. I have got to get better. This coaching staff depends on me as a leader, as a veteran guy that is on this offensive line. As an offensive line, we have got to play better. I will continue to get better. We will continue to get better … Tsoumpas, Gott. We will continue to push this group to get better because 16 yards on the ground is not going to cut it in this league in a game. We have got to be better than that as a unit.
With the bye coming up next week, we have a lot of guys who need to rest, not only rest their bodies but rest their minds. But if you are a competitor and, obviously, this team is a competitive group of men … we have a lot of competitive guys that want to win and hate to lose, this loss will sit on our minds the entire bye week. I guarantee it. It will sit on mine. It will sit on the offensive line’s. As a unit, we did not have our best outing tonight and we have to get better.
