It’s a battle of 2-2 clubs on Saturday night at McMahon Stadium as the Calgary Stampeders take on the BC Lions.
It’s also Purolator Tackle Hunger night as fans are asked to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to benefit the Calgary Food Bank. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
The Stamps climbed back to the .500 mark in Week 4 with an exciting 41-38 comeback victory over the previously undefeated Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The Lions, meanwhile, dropped a 27-14 decision at home against the Edmonton Eskimos and the defending Grey Cup champions have now lost two games in a row after a 2-0 start.
The Stamps and Leos met three times a season ago with BC holding a 2-1 edge in the season series. The Lions claimed a 32-19 victory on Sept. 17 in the only 2011 regular-season meeting at McMahon. Since John Hufnagel became the Stamps’ head coach and general manager in 2008, the Stamps are 9-4 against BC.
Calgary leads the all-time series against BC 95-75-5 including a 53-32-2 advantage at McMahon Stadium.
The Lions are led by first-year head coach Mike Benevides, a former member of the Stampeders staff when Wally Buono was in Calgary.
The Stampeders are 2-0 on home turf so far in 2012 while the Lions lost their only previous road game, 23-20 setback at Saskatchewan.
