Bauman: This was a huge win

I’ve been in some tight games where we’ve had to scratch and claw back and we got it to overtime and then we just faltered.

But today, we knew we could make plays and we knew if the defence held them to a field goal, we were going to go in and score a touchdown. We were confident with that. This was a huge win — one of my top wins.

You have to just keep your head in the game. You never know when the ball is coming to you. If you’re not getting it, you’ve got to be ready for it. It’s going to open up at some point and you just need to make the play.

It felt like an away game at some points — it was crazy. But our fans really stepped it up there at the end. It was just an unbelievable win. I was glad I was part of it and I’m glad I contributed.

This win is huge. Going 1-3, especially with a bye week coming up in August, it would have been tough to climb out of. Now we’re second in the West. We knew we could win games, we just had to do it.

As for Nik Lewis, that guy’s a beast. It’s hard to explain. He is one of the best receivers I’ve ever played with. He is the best offensive weapon. This offence wouldn’t run without him. He’s an unbelievable football player.

I’ve been with the Stampeders for a few weeks now and I love it here. It’s a great atmosphere. They give you an opportunity to go out and succeed. I hope to be here until I retire.
