Taylor’s big day rewarded

The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that Larry Taylor has been honoured by the Canadian Football League as the special teams player of the week for Week 2.

The Stamps’ receiver-kick returner produced the second-best single-game total in CFL history by amassing 441 all-purpose yards in Saturday’s game against the Argonauts at Toronto’s Rogers Centre.

Taylor’s yardage included a 125-yard touchdown on a missed-field goal return, the third-longest such return in Stampeders history. For the day, Taylor had 70 yards on punt returns, 222 yards on kickoff returns and 136 yards on missed-field goal returns. He also had one catch for 13 yards.

Taylor is the second Stamp to be honoured by the CFL this season — running back Jon Cornish was named top Canadian in Week 1 — and it’s the sixth time in Taylor’s career he has been recognized with a weekly honour.
