I never really pay too much attention to my statistics because that’s not what the game is about. It’s about winning and losing and, unfortunately, we weren’t able to get it done today.
On special teams — and on offence and defence, too — it’s just a matter of taking advantage of your opportunities and making plays and we were able to do that at times today.
There were obviously a lot of momentum swings in the game and we kept fighting back but unfortunately, the Toronto offence was on the field last and had the chance to make the final play to decide it.
We had some miscommunication on the missed field goal in the first half and that play didn’t turn out the way we wanted. But we had the play called on the second one and I didn’t hesitate at all to bring it out. I was able to cut it to the side and then I was able to get Quincy Butler’s attention to make the final block so that I could score.
I was starting to run out of gas at that point so I really did need that last block.
Like I said, it’s all about capitalizing on opportunities and it was good to see that we were able to do that today.
We just have to correct some of the mistakes so that we can change the final outcome. We need that the mistakes we made are correctable and we’re looking forward to looking at the film and making the adjustments before we head to Montreal on Thursday.
