This is a challenging road trip for us with two games in six days with the possibility that we’ll be playing in some hot weather.
The main thing is that we stay focused and that we use the little amount of time that we do have to the best of your ability. Just do your best. It’s a quick turnaround so you’ve got to stay hydrated and all the basics. You have to stay on top of things.
For the game in Toronto, people are going to make a big deal of the fact that our former defensive coordinator is now on the Argos coaching staff but that’s not something we can worry about. We just have to go out there and play ball. I don’t get caught up too much in any of that other stuff.
We’ll see him and say ‘What’s up?’ to him and then just move on and concentrate on what we need to do.
As far as going up against Ricky Ray as an Argo for the first time, we already know what to expect from him as far as him being a good QB. We’ve just got to go out there and get after him.
We know what to expect. Being in the CFL, you play against the same guys a lot. He just happens to have a different jersey on now.
Our defence looked pretty good last game, but we know that we have to take things game by game. Hopefully we stay on the same path but it’s going to take work and focus. It’s a long season, so you can’t get caught up in, “Oh, we had a great game last week.”
With this quick turnaround between our next two games, that’s another obstacle we have to overcome but I think we’ll be fine.
The most positive thing we take out of our first game is the attitude — everybody on defence going out there, playing together and being on the same page.
As far as things we need to work on, every game, there are mistakes. No matter how great of a game you have. So you just have to work on fixing those mistakes and keep trying to get better.
