The Calgary Stampeders will be trying to start the season 2-0 for just the third time since 2000 when they take on the Toronto Argonauts at Rogers Centre on Saturday. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. MDT.
The Stamps are trying to reverse their recent fortunes against the Argos as Calgary has dropped its last three games against the Boatmen including both games in 2011.
The Stamps (1-0) are coming off a 38-10 victory over the Montreal Alouettes on Canada Day and the Argos (0-1) dropped their 2012 opener 19-15 against the Edmonton Eskimos.
Calgary running back Jon Cornish was named the CFL’s Canadian Player of the Week on Tuesday after rushing for 86 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday’s win over Montreal. It’s the fourth time in his last eight games Cornish has been named the league’s top Canadian.
Saturday marks the debut of the Stamps Road Game Tweet-up at the Shark Club at Deerfoot Meadows.
