The 2012 Canadian Football League regular season kicks off at McMahon Stadium today with a Canada Day spectacular against the Montreal Alouettes come to town.
Kickoff is at 5 p.m.
Come early to enjoy the pre-game festivities in the parking lot just outside the Ticket Office at the southeast corner of McMahon Stadium.
The bash runs from 2-4 p.m. and will feature a local rock/country music band. Admission is free with a Stamps ticket and BBQ food will be available for purchase. Come and get your autographs and photos with Stampeders players and Outriders.
The first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive “Go Stamps Go” thunderstix.
The Stamps and Alouettes met twice in 2011 with Calgary coming out on top both times. On Aug. 27 at McMahon, the Stampeders prevailed by a score of 38-31.
In the rematch at Montreal’s Percival Molson Stadium on Oct. 30, the Red and White claimed a 32-27 decision.
The Stamps were 2-0 during pre-season action, posting a home-field win over the Edmonton Eskimos and a road victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Both games were decided by field goals on the final play of the contest.
Montreal was winless during the tune-up round as the Alouettes dropped games against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Toronto Argonauts.
