Last night’s game was a lot of fun.
It’s probably one of the most exciting parts of football — trying to lead your team back, especially as a quarterback.
But it was the whole team. We had a couple of times when the o-linemen did a great job of staying in their stance and not go offside. Marquay ran an amazing route and we got the touchdown . . . everything just kind of came together.
Marquay was running great routes and it was just one of those things where you feel comfortable.
On that game-typing drive and running the three-minute drill, we’ve done it in practice before so it’s pretty familiar. It’s just a situation where you’ve got to stay calm and read it out and take your simple throws and make plays when you can. The receivers have to make plays and the o-line, like I said before, did a great job of not going offside because we had a couple of snap-count changes and it just all came together.
After the touchdown, we were all jacked up but then three seconds later you’ve got to calm back down and do it all again for the two-point conversion. And we did it — that was the fun part.
In a pre-season game, the biggest is something the coaches always say: It’s about making plays. They want guys on the team who can be put in situations to make plays and that’s what they try and evaluate in the pre-season.
And you want to win first and foremost. Second of all, you want to see that everyone knows what they’re doing. When you know what you’re doing, then you can make a play.
