Vaughn: Ready to go

After almost two weeks of training camp, I feel ready for the first pre-season game. Absolutely.

The coaches have done a good job getting me ready and I’ve learned a lot since I’ve been here. I’m eager to show what I’ve learned.vaughn bio

As a defensive lineman, the biggest adjust to learning the CFL game is lining up a yard off the ball. It took a couple of practices but now I’ve learned how to use that yard to my advantage, to use my quickness and agility to get the o-lineman in space. I’m definitely used to it now and I’m just ready to go.

We’ve been trying to make an impression in practice and now we get a chance to do it in a game against another team. The coaches want to see your effort and heart and the most important thing is they want to see you make plays. They want to see who’s going to rise up to the occasion.

The process of learning about the game and trying to make the team has been a grind. It’s been a little bit more of a grind than I thought it would be. But I’m having fun and that’s the biggest thing.

Usually, training camp isn’t fun and to be out here having a good time says something about the coaches and about the players I’m around.

After going through camp, the guys bond together very quickly. We have great chemistry on the d-line. There are a lot of jokes going on in the locker-room. Everybody is bonding well and the coaches are real friendly and they interact well with the players. That helps a lot.
