Bulcke: Ready for first test

Camp so far has been going pretty well. The rust is wearing off and we seem to be getting better each day.

The off-season was great. I really focused on spending a lot of time with friends and family. When you’re playing college football, you have such a busy schedule and really don’t have a lot of opportunities to make time to relax with friends and family. Now that I’m done school, I have the ability to use the off-season as a time to catch up with everyone in Windsor, Ontario.

I’ve been having a great time learning more and more each day from Coach DeVone Claybrooks. Having him as a player last year and seeing him go to war with us makes it easy to listen in and respect what he’s saying. DeVone has so much experience, I’ve really liked learning from him.

With one CFL season in the books I’m striving to evolve my game as much as possible. I really want to become a more complete player. This season, I want to become more of a playmaker. By doing that, I will be confident with my assignment each play and look to help the team as much as possible.

It’s easy to push yourself each day when you’re working with such a great group of guys as I am right now. The plan is for each of us to add a contribution and hopefully get a Grey Cup at the end of the season.

I’m really looking forward to the first pre-season test this Friday. It’s always fun to play Edmonton — they’re a team we emphasize beating.

After the mock game on Sunday, this will be a good opportunity to get even more of the jitters out and make sure all our hard work from camp is paying off.
