Mace: So far, so good

Five days into training camp — so far, so good. We have a lot of guys really flying around and we’re really trying to set the tempo for a good season.

Having Coach Claybrooks teach a lot of hustle to the ball has been great! As a unit, the defense is really trying to focus on speed while making sure we’re always engaged.

As a coach, DeVone has been great. I’m really learning a lot. DeVone is an extremely experienced guy and he definitely knows what he’s talking about. Having him play the same position as I now play really helps. He really takes lot of time to work with me individually and I’m extremely grateful for everything he has taught me. He helps me tweak things constantly to help me improve on my game.

Like any other training camp, this one has been very tough! Between two-a-day practices, meetings and film review, you really have to just find your way. I’m fortunate being that I’ve been through this before.  I’ve learned a few tricks — as I’m getting older, the ice tub is somewhere I find myself often.

The ice tub is something that has been pushed into my regimen to help me get recovered and shake back for practice day in and day out.

I’m staying healthy and everything related to last year’s injuries remains in the past. As far as the Achilles and my back, I’m happy to announce I’m all good. Everything is healed and I’m feeling great. The pain I’m feeling is in my muscles, but that’s just from the grind of everyday camp life.

I’m very excited about Coach Campbell as a defensive co-ordinator and really look forward to seeing our defensive schemes in action. We are going to pride ourselves on a team defence and there are going to be a lot of guys on the defensive side of the ball making plays.

For me personally, I’m overly excited to get the season started! From the looks of things, we’re going to be the same Stamps, coming out flying, speed everywhere on the field and we won’t be satisfied until we win a Grey Cup.

But for right now, it’s just one game at time, starting this Sunday with the mock game.
