A large delegation from the Calgary Stampeders headed south to Medicine Hat on Saturday for Red and White Day.
Head coach/general manager John Hufnagel, president/COO Lyle Bauer, quarterback Drew Tate, defensive back Eric Fraser, 29 rookies, members of the Outriders and many staff members were part of the travelling party as the Stamps visited the Hat to meet their fans in that part of province and conduct a camp for 250 youngsters in support of KidSport Medicine Hat and Redcliff.
An estimated 600 residents were on hand to welcome the Stamps to town.
“We’d like to thank the people of Medicine Hat for their warm welcome and generous hospitality today and for making Red and White Day such a great success,” said Bauer. “From meeting so many wonderful Stampeders fans to the KidSport camp involving 250 youngsters, the entire organization was thrilled to be a part of this great event. We truly appreciate that the people of Medicine Hat painted the town red for us.”
“This was my first time in Medicine Hat and I was blown away with the support we received,” said Tate. “It was a great boost going into training camp and I want to thank all of the fans in Medicine Hat for coming out.”
