Fanfest will be held May 26

The Calgary Stampeders’ premier fan event — Fanfest — will be held on Saturday, May 26 at McMahon Stadium. The event will be held on the field at McMahon.

Stamps Fanfest — presented by Delta Lodge at Kananaskis, in the heart of the Stamps’ official back yard, Canmore Kananaskis — begins with a free pancake breakfast in the East parking lot of McMahon Stadium at 8:30 a.m. Stadium doors open at 9:30 a.m., with fun-filled family activities being held right on the field. Stampeders players and coaches will be in attendance to sign autographs and answer questions from fans.

“Fanfest has become a great tradition to help our team kick off the football season,” said Lyle Bauer, president and COO of the football club. “We have some of the greatest fans in the CFL and this is their chance to come and meet members of the 2012 team. We look forward to hosting thousands of people at Fanfest and invite everyone to wear red and white to show their Stamps pride.”

Fanfest will also provide fans with the opportunity to meet members of the Calgary Stampeder Outriders, get their picture taken with Quick Six — the Stampeders Touchdown Horse — and pose for photos with the Grey Cup.

Fans attending this year’s Fanfest will be able to witness Keon Raymond’s Presidents’ Ring ceremony. In 2011, Raymond named as a West Division all-star when he recorded 47 tackles, one special-teams tackle, seven pass knockdowns and a career-high five interceptions for a league-leading 237 return yards.

The Presidents’ Ring has been presented annually since 1967 to the Stampeders player who best demonstrates excellence on and off the field. Raymond’s teammates selected him based on his in-game contributions, leadership, inspiration and motivational skills.

Fans are asked to check www.stampeders.com or call the Fanfest hotline at (403) 284-6461 prior to attending the event to ensure they have the latest details.

Fanfest is also the first opportunity for Stamps fans to pick up their 2012 season tickets. The Stampeders’ Ticket Office will be open at 9 a.m.
