Stamps sign two for defence

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import linebacker Deron Mayo and import defensive lineman Michael Stover have signed contracts with the team. As per club policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
 
Mayo spent his final season of college eligibility with the Old Dominion Monarchs in 2010 and recorded 70 tackles and a team-leading 6.5 sacks. He also had three forced fumbles, three pass break-ups and two blocked kicks on special teams. Mayo spent three seasons (2007-09) at Hofstra University. Mayo signed with the NFL’s Denver Broncos in 2011.
 
Stover spent four seasons (2007-10) at William & Mary. In 2010, he was named to the Phil Steele preseason All-CAA and ended up recording 50 tackles and 3.5 sacks. Stover started eight games as a junior in 2009 and recorded 38 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 12 tackles for loss and four pass break-ups.
 
The Stampeders also announced that linebacker Daren Stone has been released.
