Stamps sign Harrison to extension

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import offensive lineman Edwin Harrison has signed a contract extension. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.EdwinHarrison_250.jpg

Harrison is going into his third season with Calgary. He played nine games in 2011 after coming back from injury. Playing the left tackle position, Harrison helped a unit that relinquished the second fewest sacks in the league (34). Harrison also played in the West Division semi-final against Edmonton.

“We expect Edwin to be a major contributor to our offensive line in 2012,” said Hufnagel. “Edwin unfortunately missed part of 2011 and we hope to see him for a full season in 2012.”

Harrison was Calgary’s nominee for CFL rookie of the year in 2010 after making 15 regular-season starts at right tackle. Prior to joining the Stampeders, he spent time with the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs. He played four seasons at the University of Colorado and made 29 starts. In his senior season in 2007, Harrison started at both right tackle and right guard and was an honourable mention on the All-Big 12 team.
