Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signings of four defensive linemen – non-import Prince Baffoh and imports K.C. Asiodu, Demonte’ Bolden and Kareem Brown. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Baffoh was a Prairie Football Conference All-Star in 2010 and 2011 as a member of the Calgary Colts. In 2011, he recorded 21 tackles, a PFC-leading 7.5 sacks, three knockdowns and two forced fumbles en route to being named a Canadian Junior Football League All-Canadian. Baffoh also had two fumble recoveries last season, one of which he returned for a touchdown. Baffoh also spent 2011 practising with the Stampeders. He was a member of the B.C. Football Conference’s Vancouver Trojans in 2008 and 2009.
Asiodu was signed as an undrafted free agent by the NFL’s St. Louis Rams in 2009 and also spent part of that season with the Miami Dolphins. He was a member of the New Orleans Saints in 2010 and Green Bay Packers in 2011. Asiodu started his college career at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and played 20 games over two seasons with the Rebels. He transferred to Central Oklahoma for his final two years of college football and was Second-team Division II All-Super Region, first-team All-Lone Star Conference North Division and the co-linebacker of the year as a senior.
Bolden joined the Stamps prior to Week 17 of 2011 and spent the rest of the season on the practice roster. In 2010, he played 17 games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats as well as the East semifinal, recording 39 tackles, including two tackles for loss, two sacks, two fumble recoveries and one pass knockdown. Bolden was a rookie with the Ticats in 2009 and played 13 games. He played four seasons at the University of Tennessee and played 37 games, including 24 starts.
Brown was drafted by the NFL’s New England Patriots in the fourth round (127th overall) in 2007. He signed with the New York Jets and spent the 2007 and 2008 seasons with the club. He later spent time with the New York Giants and Tennessee Titans. Brown played college football at the University of Miami and recorded 157 tackles, including 30.5 tackles for loss, 20.5 sacks, eight pass knockdowns, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 47 games. He was a second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2006 as a senior.
