Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import defensive back Andre Clarke and import defensive backs Quincy Butler and Brent Vinson have signed with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.
Clarke attended training camp with the Stamps in 2011 but was limited due to injury. He spent 2009 and 2010 at York University and was selected to the 2010 East-West Bowl after collecting 48.5 total tackles, one sack and three interceptions that season. He had the fastest 40-yard dash at the 2011 CFL Evaluation Camp. Clarke spent 2007 and 2008 with the University of Manitoba Bisons.
Butler played the final two games of the 2011 CFL regular season with the Stamps and also played in the West Division semi-final against the Edmonton Eskimos. He recorded five tackles during the season, four of which came in the Stamps’ final game of the regular season against Winnipeg. Butler was a member of the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs in 2004 and 2005.
Vinson spent the majority of 2011 on the Stamps’ practice roster and dressed for the team’s Oct. 30 game against Montreal. He spent his senior season of college football at the University of North Alabama in 2010 and had 20 tackles, including two tackles for loss, six pass breakups and three picks in 10 games. Vinson spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at Tennessee and had 61 tackles and three interceptions in 31 games for the Vols.
