Stamps sign local product Wagner

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce the signing of non-import linebacker and local product Jadon Wagner. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Wagner played his college football at Brigham Young and was a sixth-round selection of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft. His rights were acquired by the Stampeders as part of the Sept. 26, 2011, trade that sent safety Milt Collins to Hamilton.

Wagner is an alumnus of Lethbridge Collegiate Institute and is a former member of the Calgary Colts junior program.

“We were pleased to acquire Jadon’s rights in the trade with Hamilton in September and that we have been able to come to terms with him,” said Hufnagel. “We know that Jadon is excited for the chance to play with the Stampeders and to get a chance to play in his home province.”

As a senior at BYU in 2011, Wagner recorded 37 tackles, including five tackles for loss, two sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. In 2010, he had 38 tackles, including seven tackles for loss, and one sack.
