It is with great regret the Stampeders learned of the passing of long-time equipment manager George Dunn on Dec. 15. He was 86.
Known as “Dundee” in the locker-room, Dunn was with the Stampeders from 1961 to 1977 and was still living in Calgary at the time of his death. Dunn served seven different head coaches over his long tenure with the Stampeders and was with the club when Calgary won the 1971 Grey Cup.
The Raleigh, N.C., native served with the U.S. Army during World War II and saw action in New Guinea and the Philippines. Following the war, he started a professional boxing career and was a highly ranked lightweight.
Dunn is survived by his children Ivy, King and Holly and grandchildren Paris, Dante and Marco. He is predeceased by his wife Lillian. A private family service will be held.
