Head coach and general manager John Hufnagel and quarterback Drew Tate speak to the media Saturday afternoon in Montreal ahead of Sunday’s game between the Stampeders and the Alouettes.
On what he expects from Drew Tate in his second start:
“I just want him to manage the game, just like I ask of any quarterback. Go out there and manage the game and take care of the football and put the ball in the end-zone. Just do his job, that’s all Drew needs to do.”
On what makes a trip to Percival Molson Stadium such a challenge for the Stamps:
“The opposing football team. They’re a good football team and they play well at home. You could probably ask the same question of them when they come to McMahon Stadium.”
On facing Montreal quarterback Anthony Calvillo:
“I think it’s pretty cool. What he’s done in his career is awesome to see and it’s awesome to play against him.”
On playing in Montreal:
“It is a big challenge. It’s a four-hour flight and I know I’ve never won here, so it makes it that much harder. But I’m excited to play. Montreal is a pretty place and I’m just excited.”
On getting more comfortable in the starter’s role:
“I think so. I think it’s also more of a comfort level for everyone in the huddle and to get my cadence down and pick up on the little things that I might do that are different from Hank. This is a process we’re going through right now and hopefully we’ll come out on the better end.”
On the Stamps’ drop in the media-generated power rankings:
“I don’t know. If anything, it’s an advantage because the target isn’t as big on you as it is when you’re considered the best team in the league. Right now, we’re just building on the success we had last week.”
On Calvillo’s strengths as a QB:
“He’s very accurate and he seems to know where to go with the ball on every snap. He does a good job of getting the ball off quick and he’s just so accurate. It doesn’t seem like you can confuse him very much. Watching guys like that, it’s pretty neat. It’s kind of like watching Tom Brady.”
