Statement about transit disruption

The Calgary Stampeders want to express their regret to fans who were inconvenienced during Saturday’s game because of service disruptions on Calgary Transit’s LRT lines.

The club has heard from many fans who had tickets to Saturday’s game between the Stamps and BC Lions but experienced difficulties getting to McMahon Stadium because of Calgary Transit maintenance.

“We know that a large number of our fans use public transit – specifically, the LRT – to get to and from McMahon Stadium,” said Lyle Bauer, president and COO of the Stampeders. “It’s unfortunate they were unable to get to the stadium on Saturday to support their team.”

The Stampeders have been in contact with Calgary Transit in hopes that future issues can be resolved in advance of Calgary’s three remaining home regular-season games. The Stamps play host to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Oct. 1 and 21 and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Nov. 5.

“We appreciate the support we receive from our fans all over the city,” said Bauer. “It is our intent to work with Calgary Transit to ensure that Stampeders fans can utilize this efficient mode of transportation without disruption to attend our games.”
