Stamps sign Bulcke

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import defensive lineman Brian Bulcke has been added to the team’s roster.

Bulcke played 35 games over four seasons for the Stanford Cardinal, collecting 51 tackles, five sacks and one fumble recovery. The Stampeders acquired him in a trade with the Edmonton Eskimos on May 8, 2011 in exchange for a second-round selection in the 2011 CFL Canadian Draft.

Bulcke was selected by the Eskimos in the first round (sixth overall) in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft. The Windsor, Ont. native signed with the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers on July 27, 2011, and was released on Sept. 3.

The Stampeders also announced on Sunday that import receiver Jake Allen has been released.
