What a difference a month makes.
On July 29, the Edmonton Eskimos trimmed the Toronto Argonauts 26-25 to improve their record to 5-0 and take a six-point lead over the second-place Calgary Stampeders. In addition, the Esks had the early season-series advantage over the Stamps thanks to a 24-19 victory at McMahon Stadium in Week 4.
Now, as the Alberta rivals prepare for their second meeting of the season — Monday’s Labour Day Classic at McMahon — the momentum is squarely in Calgary’s corner.

Starting with a July 30 victory over the Saskatchewan Roughriders, the Stampeders have won four straight games, with three of the victories coming against the participants in the past two Grey Cups (two positive decisions against Saskatchewan and one against Montreal).
Meanwhile, the Eskimos have hit a rough patch with three straight losses. As a result, here on Aug. 29, the Stamps have turned that six-point deficit in the West into a two-point lead.
Of course, with the Labour Day Classic and the rematch in Edmonton four days later coming up, the standings could look very different again on Sept. 10.
