Jackson: Regroup and be ready to go

So far this season, we’ve had to deal with a few injuries on defence.

You can’t waste a lot of time worrying about it really, you just plug guys in regroup and go on. With the kind of defence we run, we’ve got a lot of the same body types and a lot of people have played different positions, so you just plug that guy into another position.Jackson_110728.jpg

The main part of the adjustment is mental — you have to make sure you know your assignments and get a feel for it. We’ll be ready to go.

We know we don’t have to worry at all about Robert McCune moving from the defensive line to play middle linebacker. Robert played linebacker all through college and in the NFL. It’s only when he came up here that he was playing d-end. So linebacker is his natural position. I know he’s going to run around and fly to the ball and what not. I definitely have confidence in him.

Last week against Edmonton, it pretty much was those two big plays that hurt us defensively. If we stop those big plays, it’s a whole different ballgame. But those plays did happen and we’ve got to face it. Now we’ve got to make those corrections and apply them to this game coming up in Saskatchewan.

Saturday’s a big game. It’s going to be a tough game and it’s going to go all the way to the fourth quarter. This is my third year and I already how that goes when we play Saskatchewan. We have to go out there and play and get the job done.
