Training camp has wrapped up now and I feel good. I’m just hoping I’m still here next Monday after the final roster is set.
This training camp felt pretty much the same as my first camp with the Stamps last season. I’m just trying to get better and know the plays and concepts a lot better.
There’s still a lot more I have to learn as far as the reads and knowing what the defence is doing. I still haven’t got that down yet and I still feel like I’ve got a lot to learn.
There’s always room for improvement. I think so, anyway.
Everybody talks about the numbers that our receiving corps put up last year but I didn’t think about that at all during the off-season. I was still disappointed by the loss in the Western Final.
What we did was good but if you asked Nik and Ken-Yon about the season, I’m sure they’d tell you they’d rather walk away with a ring than any individual accomplishments.
The disappointment of that loss stays with you through the whole off-season. Everybody wants to go to the Grey Cup.
We’re playing our second and last pre-season game tomorrow night in Edmonton and we need to put some points on the board. What we need is improvement. Last week was a bad game, it was rainy — that’s not an excuse, but we had a lot of dropped balls and we need to correct that.
