When it comes to the path I took to get here to Stampeders training camp, I played football at Tuskegee University and then I played for the New York Giants in 2008 and the beginning of 2009.
I ran into a few injuries but I kept training and Coach (Chris) Jones called me and asked me to come to a workout. I went to the free-agent camp and made it up here for training camp.
One thing I can tell you about the Tuskegee football program is that I lost a total of five games in four years, so I don’t like to lose. I’ve got three championship rings and one national black championship. They call Tuskegee DB U. and I was a safety there. I’m playing linebacker here and there’s no problem with that.
I actually started at quarterback my freshman year but then I hurt my shoulder. I was athletic so the coach asked me if I could play safety and my response was, “Yeah, I’m versatile. Let’s do it.”
Besides football, I also have a company called MajorGlow Entertainment. That’s my entertainment label. I graduated from Tuskegee with an electrical engineering degree and I wanted to be my own boss. I got together with some fellow college alums and some high school buddies and we started an entertainment label to promote events.
But as long as I’m up here with Calgary, my main focus is on football. My guys can handle everything with the secondary business while I’m playing football. It’s a side business and my primary focus is Calgary football.
I’ve been very impressed with the Calgary camp. It’s a good tempo. We work hard, we train hard, we get in the playbooks.
We’ve still got a lot to learn and the speed and the tempo is still something to get used to but we’re getting there and I’m very impressed so far.
