This is my first year with the Stampeders and I’ve got to say it’s a great environment here. The team is just awesome and everybody gets along great. Other than the weather so far — I’m coming from 100-degree heat in Texas — everything else is great.
This is a great group. It’s like a family in here. It doesn’t get any better than this.
It was a bit of shock when I was traded here from Toronto but we’re rocking and rolling now. I’ve been here for more than a week now. I came out with the QBs at the start of camp and now I’m out there with those crazy boys the receivers. Everything is on a roll now.
I’ve played receiver most of my career but it was great to hear Coach Huff say he also wants to look at me as a quarterback. I love playing QB. I love having the ball in my hands and I like being in control. I’ve been doing since I was small, since I was four or five.
Even when I’m playing out wide as a receiver, I still look at everything like a quarterback. It helps a lot to have that experience as a quarterback when you’re playing receiver because it slows everything down. Whether we’re going up against a man defence or a zone, I know exactly where the quarterback would want me to be. That makes things that much easier for me.
Havingplayed against Calgary for the past three years, I know the Stampeders have an explosive offence and a defence that’s going to come after you and keep you on your heels. Their offence has always been potent ever since I’ve been watching them and I’m excited to be part of it now. I’m looking forward to the season.
