Fanfest moved indoors

The ever-popular Calgary Stampeders Fanfest has officially been moved indoors.

Because of the wet weather that is forecast for the weekend, the event will move from McMahon Stadium to the friendly confines of the Viper Dome, located next door from McMahon at 2255 Crowchild Tr. NW.

“We wanted to ensure this event wasn’t cancelled in 2011 as it is one of the most popular events during the Stampeders season,” said Lyle Bauer, president and COO of the Stamps. “Fans can expect a great setup at the Viper Dome. The best part of Fanfest is the interaction between fans and Stamps players and coaches, and that won’t change this year.”

Fanfest, presented by Sport Chek, begins with a free pancake breakfast in the East parking lot of McMahon Stadium at 8:30 a.m. The Stamps Store will open for merchandise sales at 9 a.m. and the doors will open at the Viper Dome at 9:30 a.m. Family activities will be held in the Viper Dome right through to 2 p.m. Stampeders players and coaches will be in attendance to sign autographs and answer fans’ questions.

Fans will also be able to meet members of the Calgary Stampeder Outriders, get their picture taken with Quick Six – the Stampeders Touchdown Horse – and pose for photos with the Grey Cup. This year, fans have the option of making a donation to Slave Lake relief efforts when they have their picture taken with the Grey Cup.
