Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import receivers Tyrre Burks and Dudley Guice have signed contracts with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Burks will take part in his first CFL training camp in June. Last season, he was a member of the New Yorker Lions (Braunschweig) of the German Football League. He was named to the All-GFL First Team with eight touchdowns and more than 1,400 all-purpose yards. Burks played college football with the Winona State Warriors and Harper College Hawks.
Guice played three games with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2009. He was signed as an undrafted free agent by the NFL’s Tennessee Titans in April 2009 and was one of the final cuts at the team’s training camp. He signed with the Indianapolis Colts in January 2010 and was released in August. Guice played four seasons at Northwestern State and made the Southland Conference’s all-academic team on three occasions.
