Stamps add three defensive backs

Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import defensive back Mark Holden and import defensive backs Scorpio Babers and Greg Fassitt have signed contracts with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Holden spent the last four years with the Saint Mary’s Huskies of Atlantic University Sport. He led Atlantic University Sport with six interceptions in 2010 and was named to the AUS all-star team in both 2009 and 2010.

Babers spent time in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers from 2008-09. He signed with the Arena Football League’s Jacksonville Sharks on Oct. 26, 2010. Babers had a successful college career at Sam Houston State, earning All-Southland Conference honourable mention as a senior in 2006.

Fassitt spent four seasons at Grambling State, helping the Tigers win the 2005 Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) championship. That year, he was named to the All-SWAC second team. After college, Fassitt went to the NFL, signing with the Chicago Bears in 2007, New Orleans Saints in 2008 and, finally, with the Tampa Buccaneers in late 2008. Fassitt returned to New Orleans in 2009 and was a member of the Saints when they won Super Bowl XLIV.
