It sounded like a fun event, with a serious purpose.
On Saturday at Calgary’s Southcentre Mall, Young Adult Cancer Canada held a fundraiser and Stampeders defensive lineman Charleston Hughes was only too happy to attend the event.
In principle, Hughes was going there to watch participants get their heads partially shaved and to judge the best (worst?) resulting hairstyles.
At some point in the proceedings, Hughes half-jokingly suggested that if enough money was raised for the charitable cause, he’d shave off his own locks.
Well, before you know it, more than $2,000 in pledges was collected and Charleston was submitting himself and his dreadlocks to the clippers (check out the before and after photos on the right).
Way to go, Mr. Hughes! And don’t worry, the hair will grow back!
