Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import receiver Romby Bryant has re-signed with the club. Bryant was scheduled to become a free agent on Feb. 16. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“I’m very excited we were able to get this deal done,” said Hufnagel. “Romby brings a great work ethic, professionalism and play-making ability to our football team. He has been nothing but impressive since the day he arrived from Winnipeg in 2009.”
Bryant caught a career-high 77 passes for 1,167 yards and a league-leading 15 receiving touchdowns in 18 regular-season games with the Red and White last season. For his efforts, the speedy wide out was named a West Division all-star for the first time in his career. Bryant and teammates Nik Lewis and Ken-Yon Rambo became the first trio of Stamps pass-catchers since 2000 to each surpass 1,000 yards in the same season.

“This organization has been great to me since I got here and I’m glad to be coming back to Calgary,” said Bryant. “We have an excellent coaching staff, a good group of guys — especially in our receiving corps with Nik, Ken-Yon and Arjei (Franklin) — and I’m looking forward to getting back out on the field and competing.”
After joining the Stamps via trade with Winnipeg in 2009, Bryant added 27 grabs for 548 yards. He has totaled 189 receptions for 3,153 yards and 24 scores over his first three seasons in the league.
