Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that non-import fullback Rob Cote has re-signed with the club. Cote was scheduled to become a free agent on Feb. 16. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
“Rob has progressed nicely and has improved to be an excellent football player,” said Hufnagel. “His skills as a fullback, both as a blocker and a pass-catcher are exceptional and he also does an outstanding job on special teams. Rob is a local guy and a fan favourite and I’m glad we were able to get this done.”

Cote played in 18 regular-season games as well as the West final last season with Calgary, starting all 19 contests at fullback. He tied his career high with 11 receptions for a total of 111 yards and added 11 rushing yards on three carries. He also matched his career high with two touchdown grabs. Cote was once again a mainstay on special teams, contributing 10 special-teams tackles. On July 31 against Winnipeg, the fullback played in his 50th career CFL game.
“I’m thrilled to be back with the Stamps,” said Cote. “This is a great organization, from the management to the coaching staff and players, this is really a great team to be part of. I’m a Cochrane boy and I feel very fortunate to be able to play here in Calgary in front of friends, family and our great Stampeders fans.”
