The University of Calgary Dinos will be trying to secure a second consecutive trip to the Vanier Cup on Saturday when they face Atlantic champion Saint Mary’s in the Mitchell Bowl.
Kickoff time at McMahon Stadium is 1:30 p.m.
The Dinos advanced to the Mitchell Bowl by trouncing the University of Alberta 56-3 last week to capture the Hardy Cup, U of C’s third consecutive Canada West title.
This is the fifth all-time meeting between the Dinos and Huskies, with Calgary holding a 3-1 lead including a 38-14 victory in last year’s Uteck Bowl. The teams also met three times in a six-year span between 1988-1993, a stretch highlighted by a 1988 Vanier Cup final which was won 52-23 by the Dinos.
An added level of familiarity between the two programs comes in the person of Dinos head coach Blake Nill, who previously coached the Huskies for eight seasons.
The winner of Saturday’s contest will face the winner of the Uteck Bowl matchup between Western and Laval in the Vanier Cup in Quebec City on Nov. 27.
