
The Calgary Stampeders are proud to announce that 13 members of the team are 2010 Canadian Football League West Division All-Stars. The players are quarterback Henry Burris, running back Joffrey Reynolds, receivers Romby Bryant and Nik Lewis, offensive linemen Ben Archibald and Dimitri Tsoumpas, defensive tackles DeVone Claybrooks and Tom Johnson, defensive end Charleston Hughes, linebacker Juwan Simpson, cornerbacks Dwight Anderson and Brandon Browner and punter Burke Dales.

Burris, Calgary’s nominee for most outstanding player, led a Calgary offence that ranked first among all CFL clubs in several offensive categories including average points scored per game (34.8) and average offence per game (431.6). He completed a career-high 66.2 per cent of his passes (370 of 559) for 4,945 yards and threw for a league-leading 38 majors (he threw a touchdown on a league-best 6.8 per cent of attempts) and posted a 101.9 efficiency rating. He also rushed 70 times for 491 yards (7.0 per carry) and three majors. This was his third divisional all-star nomination.
Reynolds rushed 217 times for 1,200 yards and eight majors in 2010. It was his sixth consecutive 1,000-yard season and sixth straight divisional all-star nod. He added 36 catches for 286 yards and led Calgary with 1,486 yards from scrimmage.
Lewis is honoured as an all-star for the second time in his career. He led the Stamps with 90 receptions, a career high, and 1,262 receiving yards. It was his team-record seventh consecutive 1,000-yard season and his club record for consecutive games played with a reception was extended to 122. Lewis added nine touchdowns receptions.
Bryant led the CFL with 15 receiving touchdowns, three more than his closest pursuer. He had 78 receptions for 1,170 yards.
Archibald and Tsoumpas led an offensive line that paved the way for the league’s most proficient running game and has provided excellent protection for the league’s second-ranked passing attack. The Stamps led the league in rushing yards per game (145.4), rushing first downs (162) and allowed the second-fewest sacks (30). Both linemen have been West all-stars twice.
Simpson has started all but one game (he missed one contest with an injury) this season for the league’s stingiest defensive unit, which surrendered an average of 336.0 yards per game. Simpson posted career highs with 71 tackles (led the team), seven sacks (tied for the team lead), 17 special-teams tackles and one interception. He also added four knockdowns, one forced fumble, three fumble recoveries and two tackles for loss.
Claybrooks is a first-time West all-star. He recorded 26 tackles, four sacks, three tackles for loss, two pass knockdowns and was a steadying force on a defensive squad that led the league in yards against.
Johnson established career-highs with 39 tackles, four sacks, three tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. He also added four special-teams tackles and one pass knockdown. He is a West all-star for the first time.
A three-year CFL veteran, Hughes is a first-time West all-star. He tied for the team lead in sacks with seven while recording 35 tackles, five tackles for loss, eight special-teams tackles and two forced fumbles. He also added two pass knockdowns.
Anderson shared the team lead with five interceptions (a career high) and led the squad with two picks returned for scores. It marks the second straight year that Anderson and teammate Brandon Browner have led the team in interceptions. Anderson established a Stampeders’ single-season record with 246 interception-return yards to lead the CFL. He added 45 tackles, forced two fumbles and recovered one. It was his second all-star nomination.
Browner has become a fixture on the West all-star roster with his third consecutive nod. He tied for the club lead with five interceptions, a career high. He notched 51 tackles, forced one fumble and blocked a field goal. With nine pass knockdowns, Browner earned at least a share of the team lead in that category for the second season.
Dales is a West all-star for the third time in six seasons with Calgary. He punted 118 times for 5,371 yards and led all CFL punters with a 45.5-yard per punt average. He ranked third in the league with a 35.5-yard net average and has posted seven games with a net average above 40.0 yards per kick.
The Division All-Stars were selected by 69 voters, including members of the Football Reporters of Canada (FRC), CFL head coaches and CFL fans from across the country.
