In 2007, not a single member of the Calgary Stampeders was selected as a West Division all-star. Now here we are three years later and the Red and White are boasting a record number of division all-stars.
Voters have pegged no fewer than 13 Stampeders players for all-star recognition in 2010, matching the franchise high first set 12 years ago in 1998.

Calgary, which had the best record during the 2010 regular season at 13-5, also led the league in all-star berths.

The Stamps had at least one player in every position group on the West team including three members of the defensive line who each earn the first all-star nods — tackles Tom Johnson and DeVone Claybrooks along with end Charleston Hughes.
Other first-time stars for the Stamps are receiver Romby Bryant and linebacker Juwan Simpson.
At the other end of the spectrum, running back Joffrey Reynolds is a West star for the sixth time in his career.
Quarterback Henry Burris, punter Burke Dales and cornerback Brandon Browner have now each been an all-star on three occasions while offensive linemen Dimitri Tsoumpas and Ben Archibald, cornerback Dwight Anderson and receiver Nik Lewis have been honoured twice apiece.
While this is the second time the Stamps have had 13 all-star spots in a single season, it’s the first time 13 different players have been honoured. That’s because back in 1998, Marvin Coleman earned two spots on the West all-star team — one as a cornerback and one for his special-teams work.
The Red and White’s other 1998 all-stars, by the way, were Kelvin Anderson, Fred Childress, Vince Danielsen, Jeff Garcia, Alondra Johnson, Tony Martino, Allen Pitts, Jackie Kellogg, Darryl Hall, Jamie Crysdale and Terry Vaughn.
Calgary also had double-digit all-stars in 2000 and 1996 with 12 and 11 berths, respectively.
And how about this little bit of trivia? Tom Johnson’s inclusion marks the 14th time in Stampeders history a player with the surname “Johnson” has been recognized as a division all-star. He joins linebacker Alondra Johnson and defensive lineman Will Johnson, who were each all-stars on six occasions, and quarterback Rick Johnson, who earned an all-star nod in 1986.
