Chevrier: Nice to contribute

It’s always great to be able to score a touchdown and I’m just happy to be able to help out and contribute to a win.

You never know when that play is going to be called, but it was tonight and it was pretty exciting. Their defence covered all the fast guys and that left me wide open in the end-zone and Drew did a nice job me the ball.Chevy_101105.jpg

I’ve been working a lot with the running backs this season and I’ve done more ball-handling this year at practice than ever before, so I was pretty confident I was going to be able to haul that one in. Like I said, I’m just thankful for an opportunity to contribute to a win.

It was great to get the victory tonight, even if there weren’t any real consequences in the standings. You always want to win no matter what the circumstances and it was great to get that victory tonight in difficult conditions with the wind being such an x-factor for both teams.

Drew got some extended playing time tonight and he executed the game plan very well. With the wind, there were a couple of throws that got away from him but for the most part he did an excellent job.

And it’s fantastic that Rob Maver kicked the winning field goal tonight and that he broke the team record for most points in a season by a rookie. We were talking about that earlier in the week and we weren’t sure if he was going to have the opportunity to kick enough field goals to get the record, but he did it and that’s fantastic. I’m so happy for him.

Especially with the wind being so tricky tonight. I know my snaps were a little bit off a couple of times tonight and Arjei Franklin the holder did a great job catching the ball and getting it done for Rob.

Now we get to sit back for a couple of weeks and wait to see who we’ll play in the Western Final. We’re looking forward to it.
