During the last game against Hamilton, I got a few pats on the back from my teammates for throwing a block on the play Joffrey scored a touchdown.
It was just a run to the left and Joffrey ended up cutting back to the right across the field and I just got the closest guy to him. I just tried to throw myself out there to slow him up a little bit and let Joffrey score and that’s exactly what happened.
It was just look for colour, basically. Afterwards, I was worried I may have went too low on him but he was fine, so I figured it was all right. I got him on the ground and Joff was able to walk in, so that’s what it was for.
Earlier in the game, when I scored a touchdown, I got into it a bit with one of Hamilton’s defensive players. That’s basically my approach to the game — to never back down. I wasn’t very blessed with height, so I had to make up for it in other ways. That’s the way I look at it.
With first place locked up, a lot of people have been asking me if I’d like to play more of the game this week when we go to Winnipeg. All I can say is that my approach to this game it is no different than any other week, to be honest. I don’t go in looking to see how many reps I’m going to get, I’m looking to see what I can do with the reps I do get.
Regardless of how many reps I get this week, the important thing is taking advantage of the reps I do get. That’s basically what it comes down to.
This season is the most I’ve played since I’ve come up here. It’s been awesome, it’s been helpful and it’s been everything I would hope it would be. The more I get in, the more comfortable I feel about what we’re doing.
I also get to see defences and I also get to see other guys and how our personnel matches up with them on certain plays. So it’s fun. It’s been a great learning experience.
