Anderson: It’s been a big week

It was cold tonight, but if you win, you stay warm. From a defensive standpoint, we came out and started fast tonight. We didn’t put ourselves in a hole, didn’t give up any early points. We executed strong overall. The d-line got the pressure up front, the linebackers played well on the running backs and now we just have to clean up the little things.

King (Dwight’s son Kingston that was born earlier this week) is getting my touchdown ball. I told him before the game that I would get him one. Kayh and Kaleb all ready got their ball so I’m going to take the newborn this one. I haven’t even seen him yet in person, but the first time I do, he gets a football.ANDERSON_copy.jpg

It’s been a big week. New baby and got another pick to the house, it’s been a long time for that so it felt good. I think I got a bit of relief off of me after the baby got here. It was good to just go out and have a little fun.

Anytime the offence moves the ball like that, as a defensive player, you like that. You get a chance to catch your breath on the sideline and then get to go out there fresh. Being fresh tonight allowed us to go out there and get two-and-outs and when you get those, your offence is on the field more and we have more opportunities to score. We all work together out there.

Last week against BC, we were embarrassed. That’s not how we play ball. We needed to bounce back tonight and show that we’re a team to be dealt with. The difference was little things. Coach Huff talked about it all week, just doing the little things. That’s what cost us in previous games. We gave up big plays because we didn’t use the right leverage or the proper technique and Coach Jones and Corey (Chamblin) reminded us of those things this week and it worked.

Our mentality now is just to win. And keep on winning. We don’t want to lose another one this year. Now it’s a couple of days off for some rest and we’re back at it for Winnipeg next week.
