Alberta Bowl coming to Calgary

The 2010 Alberta Schools’ Athletic Association Provincial High School championship games will take place at the Alberta Bowl at Calgary’s Shouldice Park on Nov. 26 and 27. This is the first time the championships have been held in Calgary.

An exhibition six-man tackle game will take on Friday, Nov. 26 and the four championship games will be played on Saturday, Nov. 27. The four tiers are divided as follows:

  • Tier I: (School population 1,250-plus)
  • Tier II: (School population 750-1,249)
  • Tier III: (School population 450-749)
  • Tier IV: (School population under 450)

The contenders for this year’s Alberta Bowl will be determined after the Northern and Southern semifinals in each tier.

Daun Daum, a long-time Calgary high school football coach, is the chairperson of the local host committee and Stan Schwartz, executive vice-president and consultant to the executive committee for the Calgary Stampeders, is the honourary chair.
