It’s pretty exciting right now — my girlfriend Veronique and I, we just had our first child. It’s a boy named Yorik and he was born Oct. 1. Everything is going well with my family. My girlfriend is back home and the baby is healthy, so there are no problems there.
He’s a big, healthy baby — he was more than 10 pounds at birth — and he doesn’t cry. We’re wondering why, but I guess some babies are just like that so that’s fine with us.
Yorik is not an easy name to say in English, but we like it. We considered a lot of names and in the end, we decided we’d wait to see what he looked like before making the final choice. That’s when we decided that out of all the names, Yorik is the one we could go with.
What’s great now is that our next game is in Montreal, so I’ll be able to see some family. Last year, I didn’t get a chance to play in the Montreal game and that was hard, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. That’s football.
I got the chance to go home to Quebec last week and to be there for the birth of our son. He was born very early Friday, so I wound up sleeping later in the day and then that night I watched our game against Montreal.
Things went really well for the team that night. The guys did a helluva job. I was really happy to see that. It was a big win for us because we had lost the two games before, so we needed that to get back on the right track and resume our mission to get to the Grey Cup. This win put a smile back on everyone’s face.
