The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that quarterback Henry Burris has been named the Canadian Football League’s offensive player of the week for Week 14.
Burris completed 19 of 28 passes for 412 yards and four touchdowns — including a career long 100-yard touchdown pass to slotback Ken-Yon Rambo — in a winning effort over Montreal last week. The pivot added six carries for 56 yards to lead all Calgary rushers. The Stampeders’ all-time leading passer has thrown 28 touchdowns this season to lead all CFL quarterbacks.
Calgary boasts the league’s best record at 10-3, leads the CFL with 34.8 points scored per game and is tops with an average of 436.8 yards of offence per contest.
This marks the second time this season Burris has been honoured as the offensive player of the week — he also won the award in Week 11 — and the seventh time a Stampeders player has been recognized in the CFL’s weekly awards. Other Calgary winners are Jon Cornish, who was named top Canadian in Week 4 and Week 9, Romby Bryant, who was top offensive player in Week 4, Rambo, who received the offensive-player-of the-week nod in Week 9, and Brandon Smith, who earned defensive player honours for Week 10.
