The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that they will honour Joffrey Reynolds, who became the club’s all-time leading rusher on Sept. 10, in a special halftime celebration during their Sept. 25 contest against the BC Lions at McMahon Stadium.Reynolds_100826.jpg

The celebration will include the man Reynolds surpassed, Stampeders’ great, Kelvin Anderson. Anderson, who played with Calgary for seven seasons (1996-2002), accumulated 8,292 rushing yards with the Stamps. He is sixth on the CFL’s all-time rushing list with 9,340 rushing yards.

Tickets for the Sept. 25 contest are still available by contacting the Stampeders’ Ticket Office (403-289-0258 or toll free at 1-800-667-3267), Ticketmaster (403-777-0000 or online at Ticketmaster.ca) or by visiting any local Safeway or Sport Chek location.

“We are extremely pleased to have Kelvin attend the festivities planned in regards to the rushing title,” said Stampeders president/COO Lyle Bauer. “We all remember him as a great running back and this will give Stamps fans the opportunity to show their appreciation for his contributions to the club over the years. It is also a class act for him to want to be here to hand over the Stampeders rushing title to Joffrey Reynolds. It isn’t everyday our fans get to see two of the greatest running backs in Stampeders history at the same time.”KAnderson_100118.jpg

Reynolds became the Calgary Stampeders’ all-time leader in rushing yards on Sept. 10 in Edmonton. He entered the contest 51 yards back of Anderson and eclipsed the mark on a 17-yard scamper in the second quarter.

The 30-year-old from Tyler, Tex., joined the Stampeders during the 2004 season and is currently in his sixth full season with the football club. The University of Houston product has climbed to the top position on the Red and White’s all-time rushing list quickly — he vaulted over Willie Burden, Lovell Coleman and Earl Lunsford during the 2009 season to move from fifth place to second and now he has surpassed Anderson for top spot.

Reynolds led the CFL with 1,504 yards in 2009 to win his second consecutive league rushing title. He joined Coleman (1963-64) and James Sykes (1980-81) as the only Stampeders to win back-to-back rushing crowns. Reynolds is also the franchises’ all-time leader in 100-yard games with 30 to his credit to date.
